Take a journey through time when the living was tough and the era was golden. As you walk through the park by the Big Cypress you’ll get a sense of days gone by. Use your imagination and you can almost hear the whistle of steamboats entering port, the rustle of long petticoats and riverboat gamblers making a ruckus in the tavern.
Enjoy the horse drawn carriage in the streets of Jefferson or a cruise on a boat down the Bayou. Fancy a ride on the steam train, a relaxing afternoon in our historic library or museum. All this within walking distance, no need to move the car.
The Rose Cottage was built in 1859 and is part of the larger historic Bateman-Rowell House complex.
